MY BRITISH COUNCIL/GO WOMAN GO EXPERIENCE IN ABUJA

December 01, 2016

Hello beauties.  This week has been so busy.  First of all I want to say thanks to those of you that have been following my blog this year and also those that always find time to comment.  So I was invited to this even t by one of Abuja's finest bloggers chukwuemeka okereafor of www. naijamagazineonline.com and I'll say I really had a swell time even though I came late.  Cause I was driving around Shehu shagari way and Ahmadu bello  way looking for the event location.  ( I spent like 1 hour 30 minutes trying to locate it).

When I was told the event was a WOMEN event I was especially excited being that my blog is a women lifestyle blog so I always want and look for opportunities to promote women.

You guys know me I don't like long gist so I'll make it as short as possible the reason for the event was for the BRITISH COUNCIL TO UNVEIL THE BUILDING WRAP AS PART OF THE GO WOMAN GO PROJECT initiated by British artist Laura Aldridge when she visited the Nike Arts Centre in Abuja and a textile workshop with 35 women based in Abuja as part of the Go Woman Go! Project.

Connie Price, British Council Country Director

I had a very wonderful experience and went home with a tie and dye material which i designed my self, a DIY flower and others. The project has succeeded in training women in various art niches and also given them the opportunity to express themselves. \

The GO WOMAN GO PROJECT was made possible with the kind support of the FEDERAL MINISTRY OF WOMEN AFFAIRS AND SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT, ABUJA. It is one of the two public art installations that are part of the british  council"s UK/NIGERIA 2015-16 season, which claims to  build new audiences, create new collaborations and strengthen relationship between two countries. The other one is an exhibition of wind and sculpture VI by YINKA SHONABARE  (MBE) at ndubuisi park, in ikeja, Lagos. These are some of the pictures from the event. Enjoy
