2 THINGS I WISH I KNEW ABOUT BLOGGING AS A NEWBIE

June 12, 2016
I want to get a little bit personal today and share with you some of my blogging experience.
www.farbmom.com was my ever first blog. I worked hard for a long time before I saw a LITTLE success, posting consistently, trying to impress  people and thinking a lot about what people will say about something, maybe a photo of my house or food or my life story  and spread my post across every social media platform
I could.

I made loads f mistakes, especially on my thought. cause it was always about what people will say which i think i have not gotten away from. I wondered what if my house wasn't beautiful enough to take pictures and what if i spill too much of my life on social media. From the name of my first blog, you will notice that i always wanted it to be a mom blog but somehow i derailed and three blogs after. I am here. I will not say everything is working out perfectly but now i am in my comfort lane. where i can write my heart desires and not care what people say or think.

Here are two things i wish i had known when i started blogging in 2014:

It doesn't happen over night

When i started,  i thought, people will start reading it immediately like linda ikeji's blog...like seriously, i thought that and i thought my friends and family will be supportive. Before i even started, i stated reading other blogs and thought, this is quite simple and since i was a stay at home mom and my baby was just 3 months old. i felt i had it all under control but right now i have learnt that i have to take it step by step and create content that are worth reading and will be beneficial to someone.

No copy cat:

Finding my own voice took me a lot of time, research and digging. Often, i always wanted to be like sisi yemmie. i followed her style, sent her messages and thought i will have the same success she did and when that didn't happen i felt really down. I wondered why  if it worked for her, then why isn't it working for me. I am glad that i have found my own voice, I'm not fully there yet but i will eventually get there. So my friends be unique in your own way, write how you are comfortable with, if it is in Ibo or Yoruba or Hausa, write that way...use your own slang. You will be surprise at how many people will relate to you that way.
